10things to do in Riga next weekend (according me)

Good morning!

While everyone else is celebrating Halloween, Lithuanians are visiting cemeteries, lighting candles on graveyards and going to see their relatives, or have relatives coming over, or both. That's part of the reason, why I have been very late with this post. Secondly, I managed to catch a cold, so it took me three days to type this up.. Sorry!

Once again, this is not about cosmetics, and that's exactly why I decided to introduce Lifestyle tab on this page. As I have probably told you 100times, I am going to Baltic Beauty Expo next weekend, so that lead me to unbelievable hours of google search for the best hotels, places to eat, shopping centers and so on. Since I will be only going for 48hours, and most of the time will be spent in the expo, I need to plan ahead, which I usually hate. Also, I don't really feel confident writing this type of post, since I am no expert in travel and have no confidence in myself, when it comes to it. But everybody have their first times in anything, right?

1. Stay in a fancy hotel. Riga is beautiful, especially old town with its stories, and there are plenty fancy hotels located just in the very center of the city. I have read many hotel's webpages, studied photo galleries and one is prettier than the other. What surprised me most, they are not that expensive compared to some other European prices. I found out if you message them well in advance, they might even be able to offer you a special deal. The one I will be staying at, is Europa Royale hotel and I have only heard good things about it.

2. That goes without saying, but visit Baltic Beauty Expo. It will be taking place at Kipsala's iela 8, where hundreds of participants will be presenting their products and services both for professionals and regular customers.

3. Peak in beautyshop.lv, because ah, it looks just like something straight out of the vintage movie, and I need to see it live!

4&5. As an avid fan of books and magic, and a bit Harry Potter, as well as combining it with a must to try Riga's famous drink, I will be paying a visit to Black Magic bar, because the reviews all over internet is mostly good, and I don't know about you, but I can bravely say I haven't been in a place like this before.

6. Have a nice vegetarian dinner. I don't know about you, but I am so bored of pizza, pasta and potatoes choices all over my city besides couple of veggie cafes, but you can't always get the omnivore there, and I found the place, which seems to have an interesting menu and good options for Instagram photos (yes, I am becoming one of those people).

7. Meet up with a friend! Yes, I realize not everyone has a friend in Riga, and it might not be for everyone, but as the title suggests, this is my list and my blog, so I can write whatever I wish, right? So, it just so happened that my dear friend who I met in Denmark, is living in Riga now, and when you have a friend you can message after months of silence like you never stopped talking, you simply have to use the opportunity!

8. Go shopping of course! Granted, you won't be having too much time, if you are there only for 48 hours, but peeking in few malls is a must. I have heard from my friend Aliona, over at Lithuanian Beauty Blog, that H&M is out with the new collection, which hasn't hit the shelves in Lithuania yet, and I am just interested in what's on offer. My plan is two main shopping centers, Stockmann and Galeria Riga, and if I have some time to spare, I might even visit the third or the fourth one.

9. Peak into NelleUlla chocolate shop, since they have fancy chocolate, and last year when Stumble Puppy and I was having a walk, and somehow stumbled upon (pun intended) very tastefully decorated display, and I was spoilishly (is that a word???) treated to some sweets. I wanna go back and get some more for myself and gifts.

So that is my plan for next weekend. I do realize, things might change and I might need to swap my plans around, so I will be giving you a detailed report with my own photos of what I have actually done, but this is what I am aiming for!

Have you ever been in Riga? What's your must do's when in the new city? Do let me know!

P.S. A part of this post contains complimentary services, but all of the opinions are my own and 100 honest.
